Fasterfox is a very useful piece of software. The extension will allow firefox to request multiple parts of a website simultaneously. Your web browsing will be significantly faster as a result. You can also have Faster Fox silently cache all of a webpages links in the background as you read text. So, next time you click on a webpage link, all the information is already downloaded and it will instantly load. Forecast Fox is also a useful extension. Forecast Fox will show the lastest weather updates in Fire Fox. The weather updates include real time Doppler radar and severe weather updates. Fox clocks will allow you to view multiple time zones from just about every city. I use this extension often to know what time to call friends in other countries. Finally Google SMS sender is an extension I recently found. This extension will allow you to send any part of a website to your cell phone. I used it recently to send my booklist to my cell phone.

This is a great free download. This software will software will stay in your task bar and show your download and upload usage. When you open up the program you will have the ability to see your current, average, and max download and upload speed. There will also be a very cool graph that shows the recent bandwidth utilization. The graph has the ability to auto scale based on usage. I originally found this software from www.theinquirer.net and it was highly recommended.

I stumbled across pidgin very recently. I was originally using trillian which combined yahoo messenger, icq, aol aim, irc, and msn messenger into one program. Trillian was fine but the startup and the performance was very slow on a fast computer. Luckily one day I found a solid replacement called pidgin. I discovered that the pidgin software startup was almost instantaneous. The software also has great performance that was like no other instant messaging software I have used. Pidigin also supports AIM, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, Groupwise, ICQ, IRC, MSN, MySpace Im, QQ, SILC, Simple, IBM lotus Sametime, XMpp, and Yahoo messaging programs. Finally Pidgin is open source and doesn't include any advertisements, spyware, viruses, or trojans.
